Message from the School Counselor

Welcome to Harry S Truman Elementary. 

 I am so excited to meet and work with your child this year. This is my 19th year at Harry S Truman. The first 14 years I taught 3rd grade and this is my 5th year as a school counselor. As a school counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.  Any student can request to meet with me. Students can also be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child. This year will be a great time of learning and meeting new friends for your child. My favorite part of investing in students is seeing how they make gains and progress throughout the year.

Some ways I serve in the building are:

• Lunch Buddies which reinforces social skills 
• Small Groups focusing on friendships, study skills, and big feelings
• Brief counseling in the school setting with individual students
• Class Lessons focusing on the character trait, study skills, career education, or social emotional needs
• Parent Support
• Staff Support
